Position Summary:
Ozark Integrated Circuits (Ozark IC) is a growing small manufacturer that makes it possible to bring computing power to places it couldn’t go before – our electronic modules can survive in the hotter, higher vibration, eXtreme Environments (XE) needed by today’s military, aerospace, and energy sectors, all designed and manufactured in Arkansas.
We are looking for an Electrical Design Manager to expand our electrical design production team. In this hands-on role, you will lead a team that gathers and converts customer requirements to product specifications, overseeing board, IC and layout design, and the creation of test plans, while working with our manufacturing team to convert designs to manufacturable products. This role is for an entrepreneurial candidate that enjoys a mix of leadership and technical tasks and enjoys the challenge of growing an organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Electrical Design: Oversee and contribute to the design and development of extreme environment electronic solutions, ensuring compatibility with product specifications and regulatory requirements and work with foundries to facilitate fabrication of IC designs.
- Process Optimization: Evaluate and improve existing design processes, focusing on efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Work closely with our Information Systems lead on the implementation of our unique board-to-chip design stack.
- Collaboration: Work closely with technical fellows, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to integrate electrical designs into product development cycles.
- Quality Assurance: Develop and implement testing protocols to ensure design reliability under various environmental conditions.
- Project Management: Lead cross-functional projects, managing timelines, budgets, and resource allocation effectively. This also includes contributing to and compiling written program reports and funding proposals.
- Compliance: Ensure all designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate documentation and records.
- Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with senior leadership to align electrical design strategy with long-term business strategies, budgets, and organizational goals. Work with technical co-leads to meet the technical and business challenges of designing and manufacturing extreme environment electronics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Expertise in Digital, Analog, or Mixed-Signal IC Design
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IC design; preferably fabless with a focus on development of commercial products
- Experience in packaging and board design flows a plus
- Experience with CAD design flows
- CAD development experience on open source (python, etc.) a plus
- Experience working with IC foundries.
- Proven track record of successful project management and team leadership
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
- Must be eligible to work on federal government contracts, including ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance or pass a government background investigation.
