Job Summary:
Ozark Integrated Circuits (Ozark IC) is a growing small manufacturer that makes it possible to bring computing power to places it couldn’t go before – our electronic modules can survive in the hotter, higher vibration, Extreme Environments needed by today’s military, aerospace, and energy sectors, all designed and manufactured in Arkansas.
As the Infrastructure Engineer, you will join our Information Systems and Security team to build, automate, and maintain our hybrid open-source/commercial software stack and physical infrastructure—from bare metal hypervisors to advanced analytical tools. Our mission is to create a resilient, auditable, and secure platform that operates through automation first. This role requires an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) mindset, utilizing automation to solve complex problems across network, data, and compute layers. A key function of this role will be implementing and enforcing necessary security controls aligned with government standards such as the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Platform Hardening:
- Virtualization & Container Fabrics: Design and provision robust compute environments utilizing Proxmox VE for bare-metal hypervisor division and LXC/Docker/Podman for rootless, secure container execution.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Construct declarative, modular orchestrations via Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible for baseline operating system configurations.
- Lifecycle Management: Engineer update tracks and patch regimes ensuring hypervisors, standard images, and container storage backends receive routine maintenance with zero down-time.
- Platform Hardening: Implement zero-trust networking parameters, local firewalls, service segmentation, and rigorous log aggregation directly at the hypervisor level.
- Network Automation & Policy Enforcement:
- Automate network identity and access management (IAM) policies across compute resources.
- Develop automation that enforces strict network boundaries (VLANs, firewall rules) based on resource function, ensuring compliance with the principle of least privilege.
- Design robust connectivity solutions (VPN/WAN integration) using codified playbooks and API interactions.
- Data Pipeline Engineering & Orchestration:
- Architect high-throughput, secure data ingestion pipelines that move sensitive operational data from diverse sources into structured data lakes and analytical engines.
- Build dynamic process flows and business automation tools utilizing Python scripting and workflow orchestration platforms (e.g., Node-RED/Ansible).
- Develop complex Grafana dashboards by connecting disparate data targets into unified, real-time performance telemetry for engineering leadership.
Required Knowledge & Skill Set
We are looking for candidates who can speak the language of multiple domains and bridge the gap between them using code.
- Programming Mastery: Deep proficiency in Python for scripting, API interaction, and automating complex business logic.
- IaC Tooling: Expert experience with configuration management tools (such as Ansible) and declarative infrastructure tooling (such as Terraform/OpenTofu).
- Containerization & Virtualization: Hands-on mastery of Proxmox VE, Docker/Podman, and Kubernetes concepts in a secured, production setting.
- Network Engineering Concepts: Strong grasp of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) with demonstrated experience automating network policy enforcement using APIs or SDN tools.
- Data Architecture: Familiarity with various data store types (Relational DBs like PostgreSQL, Time-Series databases, Data Lakes).
- The Mindset: A proactive mindset focused on security by design, automated compliance checking, and adopting DevSecOps methodologies throughout the software lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, etc., or comparable professional experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Drive to help others by building solutions and educating people on how to use them
- Must be eligible to work on federal government contracts, including ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance or pass a government background investigation.
